Rest of the early game was beating the first orcs back, inflicting as much deaths as possible, securing the province and then archer cheesing them at the dwarf keep, vlad usually takes out averland's minor settlement and then for some reason force marches into my territory where I kill him there, take back the settlement, not giving it to averland since it secures possible trade with the border princes and averland are at high fealty anyway and still get mad at you cause no military access, then it was basically operation rush the ♥♥♥♥ out of the vampire counts to stop them snowballing and then do damage control on the orcs, the north seemed to hold fine until chaos invasion. Having done most of a gelt campaign no dlc on normal I can't give the most sound advice but my general tactic was to autoresolve the fort siege by the horde orc warband which results in a pyrrhic victory but will at least wipe out them off the map, I don't know if that is even an option on very hard though. I'm not saying Gelt is impossible to do well with or anything, I just want to know what I am doing wrong. (one time I tried this but ended up at war with several humans bc of several secession events in a couple turns.) Once I finally take out all the Orcs the vamps have conquered most of the empire by turn 25.
Now lets say I do chase them down, I now end up with a dwarf city directly next to my capital pumping out stacks like its going out of style.
Eventually I am overrun from dealing with two orc tribes and the vampires. Once I have taken the big orc/dwarven city, a seemingly endless wave of savage orc stacks appear, courtesy of the orcs I did not cut down. Now that I've said that, how do you not lose his campaign? It feels like no matter what combination of moves I make, I either get curb stomped by the vampires or the orcs.įor example, lets say when the orcs attack the fort I win the battle but I don't use Gelt to chase them down.
Before I start this, I wanna say that I don't have any of the empire dlc and that I am playing on very hard.
